　　1.1 History and Culture

　　Qufu is a Eastern holy city with long history,abundant cultural relics and rich tourism resources.Confucius,Yanzi and Mencius was born and cultivated here,the Chinese civil ancestor Yellow Emperor was born in Qufu,Emperor Yandi set Capital in Qufu, Emperor Shundi made daily-use articles here and Emperor Shaohao was buried in Qufu, There are more than 100 cultural relics under different-level protection, Confucius Temple,Confucius Family Mansion and Confucius Cemetery were named as world cultural heritages; Qufu was put into first-group 24 historical and cultural cities in China,first-group Chinese Excellent Tourist Cities and AAAA Scenic Spots,which has special character and Chinese national spirit. There are 4 million visitors home and abroad in 2004, the total social income of tourism reached 1.2 billion yuan.

　　Qufu lies in southwest of Shandong Province,the central part from Beijing to Shanghai.Qufu belongs to temperate monsoon continental climate,rainfall 894mm per year, frost-free period 210 days,average temperature 15.1℃ per year.The total area is 890Km2,total populatioh reaches 640,000.
